Reviews and Ratings

Deborah Podurgiel WSET IV Candidate - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Wow! Black Market Secret Society Red 2019 is a deep, dark mystery. Deep ruby in the glass the red wine blend is rich and spicy on the nose with dark cherry, incense, and pepper spice aromas. With a medium-plus-body, on the palate, it is dry but with a whack of fruit showing dark cherry, brambleberry, vanilla, dark spices, pepper spice, sandalwood, cocoa, tobacco leaf and a kind of a savoury olive or herbal note balanced with medium-plus-acidity and wrapping up long. Tannins are pleasantly grippy.

So, like the Black Market Secret Society white, the blend for the Secret Society red is also a secret. But I would venture to say that it has Petit Verdot, Malbec, perhaps Syrah, certainly a Cab… but I’m thinking Cabernet Libre since it has that gritty dark cherry, incense and earthier notes… or maybe it’s more Maréchal Fochish? But, why not try it for yourself? Drink or hold – the 2019 can easily cellar for three years. Tasted May 2021. Decanted for one hour prior to pouring with venison burgers from the grill. Tasted May 2021. #30DaysofVQA

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
