Huge juicy purple plum and blueberry aromas and flavours in this supple, smooth, full-bodied Italian red wine. Primitivo is also known as Zinfandel in California. Finishes with baked blueberry pie and dark spice. Perfect for grilled meats and barbecue.

Primitivo food pairings: hearty stews, sausage cassoulet, gourmet burgers.

Reviews and Ratings

Andrea Shapiro rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Black plum, lots of leather and a touch of barnyard. Dark cherry. High acidity, medium plus body. Great purple colour! Interesting Primativo. Very non-Zinfandel like, however definitely some salt, dried stewed fruit, mixed berry jello and beef jerky on the palate. Interesting flavours with a hint of minerals. Interesting and enjoyable. Pair with roast beef and ribs. - Tasted April 2017
Monique Sosa - Accredited Sommelier rated this wine as 86/100 with the following review:

Aromas are moderate and overpowered with black tea and spice. Fruit concentration and complexity appear to be lacking. The palate is no different. Black tea, spice and candied cherry are pretty much it. Not my style. Decant 1-2 hours prior to serving. Paired with gamey grilled meat. Tasted Nov 2016- @sommsosa | bespoketatings.ca
From Puglia's wine growing region, the Primitivo wine and grapes from the Amastuola Garden Vineyard are organic. The vineyard is located on a plateau 200 metres above sea level and enjoys a Mediterranean climate because of this proximity to the temperature moderating sea. - Community Wine Reviews
