Reviews and Ratings

Matt Steeves - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Abbotts & Delaunay produces some fantastic high quality low price wines and the Cotes du Roussillon blends of Syrah, Grenache, Carignan, and Mourvedre is a real show stopper. Complex layers of dark fruits, dried fruit, herbs, and cedar on the nose. The palate is smooth and refreshing with dark berries and refreshing minerality. Another terrific product from this great winery. The South of France is where it’s at! Tasted April 2015. 90+ points. Matt Steeves - www.quercusvino.ca
Astrid Young - Sommelier ISG CAPS rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Slightly reductive with barnyard notes, parting to reveal a lovely red fruit core: bright red plums and herbal/ anise notes, chewy tannins and plenty of muscle on the back without being too bitter. Would pair nicely with game meats, lamb or hard cheeses.
Sean O'Regan - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Ruby/purple in the glass, dark fruit, peppery spice and toasty oak notes. Soft, smooth on the medium-full bodied palate with red and black berry fruit, some minerality and nicely balanced. Blend of Syrah, Grenache, Carignan and Mourvedre. Tasted April 2015
Douglas McMillan rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Dried herbs, metallic minerality, plums, and meaty spices. The plums flavours stand out in the taste, as does the acidity, brightening it up nicely. The fine, ripe tannins add a nice firmness. A perfect BBQd lamb wine.
Donna Hargrove rated this wine as 87/100 with the following review:

Deep red in colour, this French wine has flavours of plum and cherry with a hint of oak. A clean smooth finish continues those flavours, slightly drying the mouth. This wine is much lighter than the colour suggests and could easily be a sipping wine, although I also see it paired up with a summer salad or white fish.

Reviewed April 12, 2015
The grapes for this wine hail from three of the Roussillon’s famed terroirs: Montner (a temperate zone producing grapes that lend depth to the wine), Tautavel (a hot, dry terroir whose grapes add complexity) and Caramany (a cooler area with grapes that lend elegance).

The grapes are handpicked. The Syrah and Grenache grapes are vinified traditionally while the Carignan undergoes whole bunch maceration.

This southern French red wine was aged in 40% barrels (20% new oak) and 60% stainless steel tanks.

Deep in colour with carmine hues. Aromas of raspberry, violet, liquorice and blackberry underscored by spicy notes. Full-bodied from the start with soft tannins. Long on the finish.
