Smoky and toasty with lip-smacking flavours of fleshy black fruit. This generous, full-bodied, supple French red wine finishes with lust-worthy dark spice and smoke. Yes please.

Reviews and Ratings

Sean O'Regan - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Deep ruby in the glass, this premium blend of Syrah, Grenache, Carignan and Mourvedre steps up the intensity over the Cotes Du Rousillon bottling by Abbotts Delaunay. Expressive nose of raspberry, blackberry, blueberry and fine oak spice and pepper pop up from the glass. Medium full body, really nice structure with good fruit depth and extraction of red and black fruit. Nice oak integration, a bit of minerality comes through on the long finish. I'd look to pair with game roast or grilled steaks. Excellent value for this quality level. Tasted Aprint 2015
Matt Steeves - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

A fine blend of Syrah, Grenache, Carignan, and Mourvedre. Elegant, expressive, layered. Stewed fruits, dark berries, cacao, herbs, and baking spices. A lovely wine that is ready for immediate enjoyment and would only continue to age beautifully for years to come. Drink 2015-2022. Tasted April 2015. 91 points. Matt Steeves - www.quercusvino.ca
Philippe Perreault - Sommelier rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

It's a blend of Syrah, Grenache, Carignan and Mourvèdre.

Deep garnet color with notes of bleuberry, raspberry, spice, cocoa, herb and oak.

The wine is firm, full-bodied and long.

Pair it with a New York steak grilled or game.

Serve it at 15-17 degrees.

Ready to enjoy now but can be aged 6-7 years.
Lori Kilmartin WSET3 - WSET3 Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

This wine not only looks rich, dark and opulent it lives up to its appearance. Lots of dark fruit, spice and leather draw you in. Some fairly firm tannins with a nice touch of acidity and a very long finish. This would be a great wine to serve with a medium rare roast beef or tender juicy bbq steaks.
Astrid Young - Sommelier ISG CAPS rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Bold nose with reductive notes, dried fruits, raisins. Black plums and hints of cedar and compost. Shaved Parmesan, nuts and dried fruits with this, perfection.
Kristin Perrin rated this wine as 87/100 with the following review:

Blackberriy jam, prunes, lavender nose
Herby palate with the above confirmed, full bodied, soft tannins

Braised beef stew
Serve at 17°C. This is a French red wine blend of Grenache, Mourvèdre and Syrah grapes.

Soils composed solely of schist. The grapes for this wine come from two terroirs: vines growing at an altitude of 200 metres with north/north-western exposure which allows for later ripening thereby preserving the grapes’ freshness. The other vines face the sea with southern exposure, but are planted at an altitude of 350 metres, yielding rich, open wines.

The grapes are harvested, completely de-stemmed and fermented for approximately three weeks at 27°-29°C with very gentle pumping over of the must in order to “moisten” the cap which is punched regularly. The wines are racked at the end of alcoholic fermentation and are transferred to 225-litre barrels or to tanks where they undergo malolactic fermentation.

The pressed wine is added to the free-run wine. The wine is aged for 9 months in 60% in oak barrels (30% new oak, 20% one-year-old barrels) and 40% in tanks so as to keep some freshness.

Deep garnet in colour. Intense nose redolent of red berries, blackcurrant, sour cherry and mild spices. Notes of cigar, cocoa and a touch of pepper. Bold on the palate with fine, ripe tannins, a long finish and a lovely hint of oak. This is an elegant, “ethereal” wine that boasts considerable freshness and a great deal of finesse.
