Daniel O'Keefe rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

A Merlot-dominated blend (80%) with doses of Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, and Petit Verdot (12%/7%/1%). Savoury smoke over ripe dark fruit aromas. Tight and somewhat closed off right now. Nicely structured with crisp acidity, firm and rounded tannins, and full body. Some definite dark fruit with oak spice and smoke on the finish. Give this one another year to develop and open up and enjoy from 2020 on with a hearty beef roast or stew. 89 points now, potential for 90-91.
Christian Marcoux rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

From Vignobles Bouillac, in Blaye, Cotes de Bordeaux region, the Chateau du Vieux Puit 2015 shows delicate aromas of black plum, black currant, tobacco leaf, charcoal, baking spice, cola and oak. Made from 80% Merlot, 12% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Malbec and 1% Petit Verdo, this full-bodied wine has a long lasting fruity finish. The tannins are well knit and overall well structured. Palate: black cherry, blueberry, bay leaf, leather, tobacco and oak. Enjoy!
Carolyn Hetke rated this wine as 87/100 with the following review:

This is a simple Bordeaux blend that offers up Bordeaux style without breaking the bank. The nose has typical if subtle fruit with hints of cedar and earth. Palate is equally subdued, nicely balanced. This is totally approachable with fine chalky tannins on the finish. Serve with cassoulet, duck, even veal.
