Deborah Podurgiel WSET IV Candidate rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

From the Great Estates Okanagan, Sunrock Vineyards Illumina (2015) is a different and unique blend of estate Zinfandel and Shiraz red wine grapes. The wine is deep ruby from core to rim. On the nose the wine is raspberry jam, blackberry compote, savoury spice and a whiff of vanilla. Illumina is dry with defined savoury sage, garrigue herbs, meaty, leathery notes and a smooth mid-palate of blackberries, black cherry liqueur. Incredible structure and balanced acidity with a medium-plus finish that seems to start and hang for a while then continue with soft ripe cherries and hint of vanilla. Tannins are present but are fine and velvety. Try the first glass on its own to capture the nuances of this wine and then pair with Bavarian Roast Pork in Dubbel Trappist-style ale and apple cider for a real taste sensation. Illumina 2015 was awarded double gold in the San Francisco 2016 International Wine Competition.

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
