Stephen Andrews reviewed this wine as follows:

Tasted Blind, Nov 15th, 2017 at wine club. Colour dark ruby red, with thick legs suggests high alcohol. Aromas and flavours of dark fruity plum, blackberry, cedar, and the smell of fresh dirt. Taste dry, dark fruit, mouthwatering medium, chalky tannins, finishes with a dry fruit, sweet tannic feel and lingering black pepper.
Nice wine of blended grape varieties. Paarl region. I would buy this again. Ranked tied number 1 out of 5. You can cellar this also. I would like to pair it with a rich stew of beef, or dishes found in the Rhone Valley of France. We paired it with an assortment of curried meats.
Rachelle O'Connor rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

A blend of Syrah and Tempranillo, Grenache and Mouvedre - a so much flavor on the palate - wow! Plump dark fruit, smoke, cigar, smoke, tar, mocha, spice - simply lovely!

Natalie's Review

KWV The Mentors Canvas 2014, Coastal Region W.O., South Africa: A towering, blockbuster South African red wine made from mostly Syrah with Tempranillo, Mourvèdre and Grenache grapes, the traditional Rhone blend. The wine was aged for 18 months in oak barrels. Lots of dark fruit aromas, including blackberry and mulberry, as well as pepper and dark spice on the finish. Pair with prime rib or brontosaurus burgers. Drink: 2017-2020. 348839 14.50% XD 750 mL  $26.95 Score: 91/100. September 30, 2017 Top Rated Red Wine. Luscious Lamb Wine  Full Review

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
