This is serious stuff, featuring jalapeno, gooseberry, lemon, fresh cut grass and a hint of lime zest. Dive into it with some oysters. 90 Points. (www.ottawawinejournal.com)

Aptly named "spitfire", this expressive Sauvignon Blanc has an abundance of aromas and flavours. Grapefruit, melon and tropical fruit with herbaceous and mineral notes. Aromatic, flavourful and a wonderful wine experience. Pair with white fish with creamy, dill sauce.
Pamela Chiles rated this wine as
89/100 with the following review:
It's a full-on assault on the nose by this spitfire - grass, grass and more grass, herbs (tarragon, parsley), asparagus, green beans, and a smoke-screen of tropical fruit. Not for the timid, this bird, although the palate softens and allows one to recover before diving back in. Quite a remarkable NZ sauvignon blanc. Try with flavourful fish dishes featuring herbs and citrus.
Sharon Lécuyer rated this wine as
87/100 with the following review:
Wow! Not your mother's sauvignon blanc! Strong, in-your-face aromas of pineapple, white grapefruit and freshly cut grass. Bursting aromas of grassy, elderflower, tropical fruits. Careful in pairing this one with food as it's so flavourful you don't want your tongue competing with each of the flavours. Perhaps ham and pineapple kebobs or seafood and buttery dishes.

Colin McKone rated this wine as
91/100 with the following review:
Pale straw in colour with strong aromas of passion fruit, pineapple, lemon, melon, white grapefruit and asparagus. Flavours of passion fruit, asparagus and lemon. It is light bodied with higher but well balanced acidity and alcohol leading into a medium length finish. This will pair well with seafood, buttered asparagus soft cheeses and salads. A real treat for any lover of Sauvignon Blanc.

A great example of Sauvignon Blanc…
Presentation: A clean, distinctive and recognizable label
Appearance: Pale lemon
Nose: A pronounced, classic nose of elderflower, asparagus, celery stalk, white grapefruit rind
Taste: Dry, low tannins, high acidity, medium-to-full body, again with classic notes of elderflower and grass, white grapefruit rind, and celery
Finish: Long elderflower finish
Overall impression: A classic Sauvignon Blanc without the sharp ending. Well worth a try. It would pair well with fish, seafood and spicy dishes…
Value: 4/5

Bursting with lemon zest and tropical fruit on the nose. Crisp yet creamy on the palate with pink grapefruit and mango flavours. Long, citrus and mango finish. Tasted January 15, 2017.

Wow - no mistaking the grape in this New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc. There are a lot of aromas wafting from the glass. Strong grassy notes with canned asparagus, lemon pith and melon. Bracing acidity and a long citrus finish. Tasted January 15, 2017.

Kim Crawford Spitfire Sauvignon Blanc 2016, Marlborough, South Island, New Zealand: So creamy, rich and seductively complex. This is a more richly woven Sauvignon Blanc than the winery's entry-level version. There's a longer pungency and persistence of flavours. Very mouth-filling and luscious with surprising lift and vibrancy. Winemaker Anthony is after more ripe tropical fruit in this expression, such as passion fruit, melon, and guava. So vibrant and expressive with clean slate and white citrus on the finish. Pair with mussels, oysters and scallops. Drink: 2016-2019. 38240 12.50% XD 750 mL $24.95 Score: 93/100.
