I loved this wine, featuring baked apples, oak spice, vanilla, and stone fruit. This wine has a creamy texture and has enough acidity to make you crave another glass. Well done. 92 Points. (www.ottawawinejournal.com)

The Arterra wine line recently released from Jackson Triggs represents Marco Piccoli's (the head winemaker) effort to explore Pinot Noir and Chardonnay and what they are capable of in Niagara. Marco Piccoli has done fantastic work with his sparklings and is considering adding a sparkling to this lineup in the future.
Medium lemon-yellow, at this stage.
This wine is made for full bodied Chard lovers. It is heady and smacks of near-full malolactic fermentation. Minimal sufur was used and the grapes were given a modest regimen of oaking.
Toastiness and lees kick off, at first. It has some nice lemon cake, beeswax, white pepper, and filbert notes.
Tons of tropical fruit emerge, after being open a while longer: Pineapple, atulfo mango, papaya, and citrus.
Some of the grapes sourced for this wine came from Le Clos Jordanne, a premier Chard and Pinot producer that unfortunately dissolved in the last two years. It is nice to see quality wines still coming from those soils.

Oak and ripe tropical fruit aromas. A new world style Chardonnay from Niagara. Apples, banana and toasted coconut flavours. Serve with seafood or smooth creamy cheeses .

Light gold Tropical fruit and floral notes on the nose with butterscotch and a touch of nuttiness. Pineapple, apple and vanilla flavours with plenty of Chardonnay soul. The palate echoes what is promised by the nose and there is mouth watering acidity set against a luscious mouthfeel. A lingering finish with further reverberations of fruit and soft tannins.
Great with veal saltimbocca or chicken with figs and grainy mustard sauce.

Grapes for this wine came from the well-known Le Clos and Claystone vineyards near Jordan Station (in the past used to make the premium Le Clos Jordanne). And there are certainly similarities between the two wines - tightly wound with up front alcohol and puckering acidity, a slight bitter edge, zesty lemon. The Arterra has a shortish finish with a charred note to it. Pretty cool.

A cool climate from Chardonnay that was crafted by Jackson-Triggs winemaker Marco Piccoli. He decided to have more fruit expression and used very little oak and none new, so this is not your typical oaky chardonnay. A bit on the acidic side this is a good food wine; poultry, fish or creamy pastas. Tasted November 29, 2016.
