Andrew Bernardo rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

I'm a big fan of this wine, featuring lots of red and dark wild berries, herbs, decaying violets, brazil nut, anise seed, camphor and a hint of truffle/mushroom. At between $20-24 depending on where you are in Canada, you are getting this wine for a song. 91 Points. (www.ottawawinejournal.com)
Monique Sosa rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Ripe and jammy aromas of cherry, licorice/anise, vanilla, caramel notes. The palate shows a tangy acidity and a long smoky finish. Overall, a good quality wine at a terrific value. Tasted Nov 2016 - @sommsosa | bespoketastings.ca

A lovely, high-toned, floral, ripe and spicy blend of 70% Uva di Troia and montepulciano, this is a superb value for fans of spicy, firm, very Italian style reds with some class and elegance. I love the peppery red and black fruit, the nicely resolved tannins and the wonderfully evolved floral-pot pourri type flavours. Terrific length, too, in the price category. Tasted October 2016. 70% of Nero di Troia and 30% Multipulciano -
This is a really interesting wine from Puglia. The grape varietal Nero di Troia is the main indigenous variety of the DOC Castel del Monte. Aged in French oak for 14 months and further in the bottle, this wine has a complex nose with notes of licorice, spices, mint, wood, tobacco and married with ripe red and black fruits. It is elegant, smooth and full bodied with a long finish. Would go great with old cheeses and red meat.
Trevor Sabourin rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

This wine is made from 70% nero di troia and 30% montepulciano grapes. Quite earthy and dusty, though somewhat understated on the nose. Dried cherry and cranberry, dark plum, fig, sage, green olive, leather, dried leaves, and a touch of violet and vanilla. There is also a bit of gamey, brett character. Repeats on the palate with some sundried tomato, bitter cocoa, and clove spice. Medium-full bodied, high acidity, and firm, dusty tannins. Good length finish, with dried cherry and earth. Pair with lamb or herb-roasted pork tenderloin.
Jennifer CAPS Certified Somm rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

The 2009 Rivera Il Falcone has an intensely perfumed nose featuring ripe blackberry, grilled bell pepper, old leather, and smokey toasted oak. Full-bodied and extra-dry with refreshing acidity. This savory Southern Italian gem boasts good balance and complexity.
Wineboy rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

big aromas of black cherries, tea with floral accents. Solid structure with cherry pie and herbs dominating the flavours. Best 2019 - 2021.

Natalie's Review

Rivera Il Falcone Riserva 2009, Castel Del Monte, Puglia D.O.C., Italy: This robust Italian red wine is made in one of the more southerly wine regions of the country, where the grapes ripen to full flavour and depth. The 2009 vintage of the Rivera Il Falcone is a blend of mostly Nero di Troia grapes and some Montepulciano grapes. Savoury, smoky and brooding with fleshy black fruit aromas and flavours. Ultra-delicious and smooth already in texture. Southern Italy has undergone a quality revolution. Taste this red to see what I mean. Pair this wine with hearty meat dishes.
