Reviews and Ratings

Jane Staples - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

A 100% Cab Sauv, crafted from grapes grown on "Piedmont" soil in Chile's Maipo Valley, which is very stoney with good drainage.
Medium-bodied, velvety and balanced, this Cab exudes aromas and flavours of dark fruit(cherry, raspberry, blackberry, cassis, plum) along with delicious spicy notes of black pepper, bay leaf and also vanilla and caramel. Velvety tannins and lingering elegant finish make this Cab a delight to enjoy with beef tenderloin, prime rib , mushroom risotto or mature cheese such as manchego or emmental.
Tasted Oct. 2018 with the winemaker, Sebastien Ruiz.
Jon Steeves - Sommelier rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

This Chilean Cabernet Sauvignon is tasting great. Ruby red in the bowl, with a medium long finish and persistence of red berry, black pepper, elegant aged leather, black cherry and baking spices. Fine tannins. Paired well with roast lamb and would pair well with a seared rare beef tenderloin. Produced with Maipo valley and Isla de Maipo fruit. Tasted 2017 vintage in October 2018. 91 points #goodvalue #crowdpleaser
Melanie Lloyd - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

What a treat! This Cabernet Sauvignon from the Maipo Valley has aromas of ripe raspberry, plum, violet, chocolate, cinnamon, black pepper and hints of vanilla bean. It is full-bodied, has smooth tannins, and fresh acidity on the palate with flavours of tart plum, juicy raspberry, subtle cedar and chocolate at the finish.

Wine-Food Pairing: A pepper steak covered in mushroom sauce would be yummy with this wine.

Tasted October 2018 at the Vina San Pedro wine tasting event.
Christian Marcoux rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Cabernet Sauvignon 2017, from Tarapaca Gran Reserva Vineyards, harvested in the Maipo Valley of Chile, reveals lovely aromas of raspberry, red cherry, plum, violet, leather tobacco, backing spice and oak. Full bodied, long finish and well balanced, this Cabernet Sauvignon 2016 expresses fine quality. Fruity aromas of red cherry, plum and raspberry are repeated on the palate, as well as black pepper, cigar box, leather and oak; certain to satisfy the Cabernet Sauvignon lover in you. Pair with red meat or aged cheese. Enjoy. Tasted at the Chateau Laurier in October 2018; Winemakers from Vina San Pedro’s properties, Tarapaca Gran Reserva Vineyards.
