Fleshy ripe purple plums and blueberries on this Italian red wine. Extra richness and juiciness from the Appassimento style of winemaking. Full-bodied but not heavy. Finishes with leather, dried herbs and dark fruit with smoke. Perfect for hamburgers and meat lovers' pizza.

Food pairings: hamburgers, pizza.

Reviews and Ratings

Heather Wall - CS; WSET Advanced rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

A real price performer at $16. A waft of fresh berries lifts from the glass. Oak, smoke leather and prune follow on the nose and palate. Rich and full-bodied with good length on the fruit driven finish. This is a wine to buy by the case for everyday enjoyment. Perfect with a meat lovers pizza or a BBQ hamburger. Smooth enough to enjoy on it's own as well.
Tasted: May 2015
This robust Italian red wine blend is aged in oak casks. Pair with aged cheeses and nuts. A blend of 60% Corvina, 25% Rondinella, and 15% Merlot grapes. Finishes with leather, dried herbs and dark fruit with smoke. - Community Wine Reviews
