Reviews and Ratings

Lori Kilmartin WSET3 - WSET3 Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Lots of juicy dark fruits; blackberry, cherry and plum. Secondary aromas of leather and smoke. Firm tannins that speak to some further cellaring. A rich mouth feel with a long fruit finish. I paired this with a medium-rare prime rib and potato dauphinoise for Sunday supper and it was a superb match. Tasted March 2017
Melanie Aubert rated this wine as 87/100 with the following review:

Beautifully coloured, this wine’s deep ruby tone borders on purple and blue. The bouquet is incredibly complex, with black fruit, smoke, baking spice, violets and leather. In the mouth it is quite dry with slightly grippy tannins, and reveals a host of old-world flavours like leather, green pepper, earthiness and smoked meat, with a sour cherry finish. This wine’s acidity and flavour beg for food. Try pairing with grilled lamb with herbes de provence or deliciously stinky French cheeses.
This Malbec from Cahors in the Southwest of France intense, firm and tannic. Château Lamartine Prestige (2013) is great value and smoky and textured notes are coming through with ripe black fruit. Can drink now, but give it a few years in cellar. - Community Wine Reviews

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
