Blackened, charred fruit and tarry oak on the nose and palate of this robust Italian red wine from southern Italy's Puglia region. Lots of juicy acidity. Pair with grilled meats.

Reviews and Ratings

Jon Steeves - Sommelier rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Medium bodied Zin - Puglia IGT primitivo 2013 vintage. Well balanced red and black fruit blend.
Zinfandel DNA. Fantastic value. Great BBQ wine. Enjoy. Tasted March 2017. 88 points.
Monique Sosa - Accredited Sommelier rated this wine as 86/100 with the following review:

Black fruit and balsamic notes dominate the aromas and flavours. Wine is lighter bodied than expected, fruit is concentrated, acidity is moderate and tannins are fine. Lacks acidity and body for my palate. Tasted Mar 2017 by @sommsosa
This Primitivo from Puglia is made from 35-year-old vines from two vineyards. Grapes were vinified separately for Casa Girelli Virtuoso (2013) and the wine was then blended to make up this dark cherry, spicy Italian red. Grilled pork ribs or braised beef-ribs, both would pair equally as well with this wine. - Community Wine Reviews
