Reviews and Ratings

Deborah Podurgiel WSET IV Candidate - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

Recently released from The Black Market Wine Company, “Unsanctioned” 2019 Merlot is a “powerful and age-worthy” Merlot as the winery suggests, but it is pretty terrific now.

Deep dark ruby in the glass, rich and as delicious on nose as it is on the palate with well-defined and medium-plus-intensity aromas/flavours of spiced dark plum, candied violets, candied cherry, red berry compote, vanilla, mocha, milk chocolate, nutmeg and cinnamon spice. Dry, full-bodied, balanced with medium-plus acidity, alcohol and length. Tannins are present, fine-grained, rich and developing. A beautifully crafted Merlot, so silky, and dangerously delicious, it should be outlawed!

Produced from grapes sourced from Old Vines Merlot from the winery’s Conviction Ridge Vineyard. Tasted July 17 2022 with gourmet venison burgers and all the trimmings.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
