The Black Chook Shiraz Viognier 2013, South Australia, Australia: Surprisingly excellent for the price, wow. This full-bodied Australian red wine is a blend of mostly Shiraz and a splash of Viognier from McLaren Vale and Langhorne Creek. Aromas of blackberry jam lusciousness with some mint. Layers and layers and layers of pleasure. Eyes closed kinda wine. Some violets and cedar on this finish. Highly recommended. Loaded with fleshy ripe dark berries and vanilla spice from toasty oak aging. Good mouth-watering acidity on the palate leads to a clean finish. Pair with a juicy steak. Just enough toasty oak. Wonderful wine for the price point: full-bodied, juicy, and layers of rich black cherry aromas and flavours. Good acidity, nice balance overall.
