Trivento Concha Y Toro Reserve Syrah Malbec 2012, Mendoza, Argentina: Deep, dark and rich, this brooding blend of Malbec (50%) and Syrah (50%) has dive-into-it aromas of blackberries, coffee, dark chocolate and smoke. The wine was aged for 8 months in French oak. Full-bodied but not heavy, wonderful concentration of flavour. This is Concha y Toro’s Argentine estate, and the wines punch well above their weight (and price point). Highly recommended. Drink: 2013-2016. 492702 13.50% XD 750 mL  $13.95 Score: 89/100. September 27, 2014 Best Value Red Wine. Glorious Game Wine Full Review
Penfolds Bin 128 Shiraz 2012, Coonawarra, South Australia, Australia: This is what elegance and restraint tastes like from Australia: French grammar school, Australian graduate studies by the consummate gentleman winemaker Peter Gago. This wine was matured for a year in French oak, 26% of which was new. Lovely aromas of mint, cassis, blackcurrant and blackberry with just enough toasty warmth from the oak. Drink: 2013-2019. 509919 14% D 750 mL  $61.00 Score: 94/100. November 15, 2014 Top Rated Red Wine. Best Beef Wine Full Review
Viña Ventisquero Grey Single Block Carmenère 2011, Trinidad Vineyard, Maipo Valley, Chile: Dark and rich Carmenere with dark spice and smoke. The grapes are sourced from the winery's La Trinidad Vineyard in the coastal Maipo Valley. This robust red wine is aged 18 months in French oak barrels. Drink: 2013-2017. 325415 14% XD 750 mL  $19.95 Score: 88/100. September 27, 2014 Perfect Pasta and Tomato Sauce Wine Full Review
Château De Panigon 2010, Médoc, Bordeaux A.C., France: Tastes almost Rhone-like in it's depth and concentration of black raspberry and cedar brush flavour. Good value. Dalva Colheita Btld. 2011 Port 1997, Douro D.O.C., Portugal: Toffee, hazelnuts and dried figs with that chalky back of the throat dryness. Love colheitas, my favourite style of port.
