Linfield Road The Stubborn Patriarch Shiraz 2008, Barossa, South Australia, Single Vineyard, Australia: Vintages Wine Panel: Linfield Road can trace its winemaking history to 1860, when Edmund Wilson planted the family’s first vines. Five generations of the family have now had a hand in producing their handcrafted single-vineyard wines. This Shiraz, named for Captain Andrew Wilson who favoured execution rather than uttering “God Save the King” following the Scottish defeat at the Battle of Bothwell Brig in 1679, is toasty, medium-full bodied and lovely, with oodles of dark fruit and plenty of oomph balanced by impressive finesse and structure. My note: Terrific depth and concentration with blackberry richness and black silk satisfaction. Full-bodied and deep and long. Drink: 2008-2014. 223032 15.30% XD 750 mL $21.95 Score: 91/100.
