The wine was aged in French oak barrels for one year and the wine is only made in select vintages. Niepoort Vertente 2017, Douro D.O.C., Portugal: Niepoort Vertente 2017 is a full-bodied, rich and complex Douro red wine blend of Tinta Roriz and Touriga Franca wine grapes and aged up to 18 months in mostly neutral oak barrels. The grapes for Vertente were sourced from the slopes off the Pinhão and Tedo rivers. Bright ruby in the glass, vibrant on the palate and flavourful with ripe red berry, plum and cherry, wet stone, cedar brush spice and finishing long on a mineral note.
