Lively and complex notes of mineral, lime, apple, pear, and orchard blossoms. Dry, medium bodied, juicy and mouth-watering, with some residual sugar balanced by waves of brilliantly vibrant acidity. Nice, fresh finish. This is an exceptional food wine, and a great expression of Niagara terroir. Expect this to evolve nicely over the next 5+ years, or enjoy it tonight. Henry of Pelham Reserve Off-Dry Riesling 2009, V.Q.A., Short Hills Bench, Niagara Peninsula, Ontario, Canada: The grapes for this wine are left on the vine well into October, allowing them to reach the desired ripeness for this rich and vibrant Riesling. Resulting is an interplay of lush citrus and floral accents with a hint of sweetness, balanced by a brilliant seam of acidity. Amazing value that will age well for 5-7 years. Salmon pink in colour with notes of strawberry, sweet herbs and watermelon. The palate is round with a sense of sweetness from the fruit – particularly the strawberry – as well as lovely structure and character. A medium-long fruity finish. Perfect for your next barbecue because it works so well as a sipper. My note: Lovely fleshy ripe field strawberries and raspberries. A white summer dress and thou. Mouth-watering and food friendly.
