Château Blaignan 2010, Médoc, Bordeaux A.C., France: Lots of attractive toasty oak and smoke on the nose of this robust, rustic red wine. This Cabernet blend from Bordeaux is well-priced. It gets a bit thinner on the palate than the nose would lead you to believe but is nonetheless good value. Drink: 2015-2019. 400606 13.50% XD 750 mL $23.95 Score: 89/100. January 24, 2015

Gabriel Meffre Sainte-Catherine 2015, Rhône A.P., France: Gabriel Meffre's Sainte-Catherine 2015 is a full-bodied and juicy red wine blend of Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Grenache and Cinsault from the Gigondas wine region. Lots of ripe dark fruit, dark berries, tobacco leaf, dried herbs and toasty oak on the finish. The Gigondas district was awarded Rhône Cru status in 1971, a very coveted designation. Decant and pour with a roast leg of lamb, or hold in cellar for three years. Drink: 2018-2025. 370270 14.50% XD 750 mL $39.95 Score: 91/100. November 7, 2018
