Fincas Patagonicas Zolo Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 2014, Mendoza, Argentina: The 2014 vintage is the third vintage with famed winemaker Jean Claude Berrouet of Pomerol, Chateau Petrus as an exclusive consulting winemaker working closely with Fabian Valenzuela the current winemaker at Bodega Tapiz. Mr. Berrouet is one of the most famous winemakers and is involved in every facet of the process from vineyard to wine. What an incredible wine for this price! Full-bodied with attractive aromas of blackberry and cassis. Good balance with a long, satisfying finish. This winery produces other terrific reds as well, so keep an eye out for this producer. Fabre Montmayou Gran Reserva Malbec 2013, Mendoza, Argentina: Seductive blackberries and fleshy black plums on the nose, full-bodied with gorgeous velvet texture on the palate of this elegant Argentine red wine brought to us by Vistalba. Lovely bite on the palate. Spice and cedar smoke on a long and persistent finish. A beautiful expression of Mendoza Malbec. Pair with lamb chops. Two Hands Angels' Share Shiraz 2015, Mclaren Vale, South Australia, Australia: Angel's share refers to the small amount of wine that evaporates from the oak barrels during maturation while the wine is aging. Medieval winemakers assumed that the angels watched over the wines being made and took their share in recompense. This terrific Australian red wine is bursting with black fruit, tar, graphite and toasty oak. This is a whopper of a wine.
