The grapes come from de-classified Stonewell parcels (the flagship wine), so this is a steal at $30. The wine is aged 30% in new French oak barrels for 14-16 months. Marchesi de Frescobaldi Nipozzano Riserva Chianti Rufina 2012, Tuscany DOC, Italy: This robust northern Italian wine is made mostly from Sangiovese grapes. It has great elegance, finesse and length on the finish. It's not as acidic as typical Sangiovese and therefore is soft and easy to drink, though still packed with dark red fruit flavour and spice. López de Heredia Viña Tondonia Reserva 2011 is a dry, full-bodied Rioja red wine blend of mostly Tempranillo with 20% in Garnacha and 5% each in Graciano and Mazuelo. The wine was aged up to six years in neutral oak barrels. Expect a wide range of tertiary flavours including dark plum leather, black olive, sweet tobacco, truffle and balsamic notes balanced with vibrant acidity and framed with rich, muscular tannins.
