Laughing Stock Blind Trust Red 2012, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia Bc V.Q.A., Canada: While I have enjoyed this BC red wine in the past, the 2012 vintage is disappointing. Short, unripe and almost stemmy in character. This Okanagan blend of Bordeaux grapes, including Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot, has received some of my highest scores in previous vintages, but sadly not this one. Do the math: this price-quality ration doesn't compute. Pair with under-performing stocks and over-priced bonds. Drink: 2014-2019. 230110 14% XD 750 mL $37.95 Score: 84/100. December 6, 2014

La Crema Chardonnay 2016, Sonoma Coast, California, United States: Superb! Classic Californian Chardonnay with toast, oak and green apple on the nose. Full-bodied, and generously layered. Generous flavours of pear and peach on the palate with a long, dry finish and a hint of wild white flowers. Sonoma Coast vineyards enjoy a long, cool growing season due to the moderating influence of the Pacific Ocean, and its fogs and winds that blow inland. This is perfect for slowly ripening grapes to develop complex flavours and nuances without lots of sugar that translates to heavy alcohol. Perfect for roast chicken or mild curries.
