Andre Blanck Et Ses Fils Altenburg Gewurztraminer 2015, Alsace A.C., France: Mouth-filling and viscous. Here's a terrific example of a medium-sweet Gewurztraminer that would be divine with a spice-inflected fruit-based dessert. Come-alive notes of peach jam and baking spices. Gorgeously rich and concentrated with cinnamon-spiced peach preserves and spicy apple pie aromas. Drink: 2016-2022. 168906 13.50% M 750 mL $19.95 Score: 92/100. October 29, 2016

Quinta do Crasto Old Vines Reserva 2014, Douro D.O.C., Portugal: The 2014 vintage of this classic Reserva Old Vines is a robust Portuguese red wine that's a field blend (vines with different grapes planted and intermixed in the same vineyard, with the vines about 70 years old. That results in the depth and concentration of flavour we have in the glass. The wine was matured 85% French oak barrels and 15% American barrels for 18 months. Winemaker Manuel Lobo has done a superb job here and reduced the total yield by 30% by being extra picky (literally) with the grapes that go into this wine. Lots of fleshy black currant and smoke with a long, satisfying finish. Decant 1 hour and enjoy with a rare steak. Drink: 2017-2021. 294116 14% D 750 mL $41.95 Score: 92/100. June 24, 2017
