Talamonti Montepulciano 2013, Abruzzo, Italy: Tre Saggi is a delicious, toasty red wine from Montepulciano. Loaded with black fruit and dark spice. Rich, dark and savoury with black cherries and smoke and lots of mocha and sweet chocolate notes. Full-bodied and luxuriously thick like a comforting blanket you wrap closer to you on a chilly night under a starry sky by the campfire. Great structure and balance. A great party wine that won’t cost a fortune. Plus the label looks like it cost twice as much as you paid for it ;) Tre Saggi translates to "three wise men" and both wise men and women will be smart to try this wine. Great spice and smoke notes on the finish. A rare steak would be a great match. Drink: 2016-2019. 204016 13.50% XD 750 mL  $17.95 Score: 90/100. October 1, 2016 Best Value Red Wine.
