Lavau Vacqueyras 2014, Rhone A.C., France: The 2014 vintage of the Vacqueyras is a blend of 50% Grenache, 40% Syrah and 10% Mourvèdre grapes. In 1964, the Lavau winemaking family left St-Émilion in Bordeaux and moved to the Rhône Valley. Brothers Benoit and Frédéric Lavau partner with 300 grape growers in the region to make their wines. This robust southern French red wine offers blackberry liqueur aromas and richness on the nose and palate, with a pleasant smoky finish. Full-bodied and layered with a terrific value for the price.
