Quails' Gate Estate Winery Merlot 2011, Okanagan Valley, BC VQA, Canada: A spectacular BC merlot with enticing aromas of fleshy dark fruit and smoke. Quail's Gate is what I'd call a merlot specialist, having elevated the whole varietal for the country. Love the cedar brush finish that leaves a wispy trail right back to the bottle. Superb craftsmanship. Drink: 2014-2020. 169961 15.47% D 750 mL  $26.95 Score: 92/100. May 10, 2014 Top Rated Red Wine. Harmonious Hard Cheese Wine Full Review

The Dreaming Tree Crush Red 2013, North Coast, California, United States: Fleshy ripe purple and black plums and blackberry preserves on the finish. Luscious, full-bodied, smooth and juicy. Very Zinfandel-like this this is a blend of red grapes. Pair with barbecued meats. Drink: 2014-2017. 310391 13.50% D 750 mL  $16.95 Score: 89/100. April 19, 2016 Best Value Red Wine.
