Le Ferme Du Mont Le Ponnant 2012, Côtes Du Rhône-Villages A.C., France: Winemaker Stéphane Vedeau lovingly brings forward luscious fruit flavours that Syrah adds to this red wine blend from the Rhone Valley. Full-bodied and smooth yet it has terrific heft and concentration. Savoury with satisfying aromas and flavours of black cherry and cedar forest floor. Decant for 1 hour for maximum pleasure. Attractive notes of black raspberry, violets and wild brush on the finish. A powerful red wine from the Rhone Valley, with seriously rich and fleshy ripe brandied cherry aromas and flavours. Polished tannins with anise and blackberry on the finish. Although Grenache leads in the blend at 80%, there's also 10% Syrah and 10% Mourvèdre grapes in this cuvee. This is a tremendous value for wine of this quality: perfect for parties and potluck gatherings. Drink: 2013-2018. 171371 14.50% XD 750 mL $18.95 Score: 92/100. July 11, 2015
Top Rated Red Wine. Best Beef Wine Full Review
Clos Bellane Valréas 2013, Côtes Du Rhône-Villages A.P., France: The grapes for this wine grow on the extreme northern edge of the southern Rhone Valley. This vibrant and full-bodied French red wine offers aromas of black pepper and bright red cherry. There is black spice and smoke on the finish. Vineyards are planted at 410 metres above sea level next to 120 beehives and a truffle forest... how's that for a storybook setting? And they all drank happily ever after.
