Dear Bacchus, |
June 7, 2013 | It went right down to the wire for The Great Canadian Wine Match, with hundreds of wine lovers voting right up until midnight on June 1 and the rankings changing by the second.
I've created a shopping list of the winners and finalists - for those not in your liquor store, click through to the wine review page and then on the winery's web site to see if you can order directly. This list is easy to share on social media and with friends.
You'll also find contacts in this directory of Canadian wineries. Taste your way across the country this summer as you drink Canada Dry ;)
Coverage of the competition has been published in the daily newspapers from Vancouver Sun to the Halifax Herald, as well as the Huffington Post, Zoomer Magazine and on CBC, CTV News and coming up, Canada AM.
It's worthy recognition for our most loved wines in this country, as well as the wine lovers who nominated and voted for them!
We'll be hosting this competition next year, but stay tuned for a fall competition focused on international wines under $25.
Meanwhile, here are my top wine picks.
Have a great weekend!

Contributor Matt Steeves (pictured left) of Ottawa championed several wines in The Great Canadian Wine Match. His pick for Canada's Best Cheese Wine won gold. In the video below, I chat with Norm Hardie whose pinot noir won Gold for the Pizza category and was nominated by Joe Hache. We'll post Norm's recipe for the zesty pizzas he makes in his outdoor wood-burning oven on the blog. They're perfect with his mouth-watering pinot noirs!
