Dear Dionysus, |
June 8, 2012 | There are some terrific bottles in this week's wine picks for Father's Day gifts and manly, open-flame barbecues next Sunday.
As Canadian wine lovers, we have another reason to celebrate: a private member's bill that makes it legal to ship or carry wine across provincial borders was passed unanimously by our MPs this week.
If you love BC, NS or Quebec wine, you're one step closer to being able to buy it from a winery and have it shipped directly to you (and vice versa). Finally, the end of Prohibition: I'll drink to that!
Here's my take on the issue that aired on Global TV News today across the country, plus some fun with a wine showdown between Ontario and BC: which one is better?
I've also been making mischief with my Top 10 Wine Lists for Grumpy Old Men, Cagey Cougars (catty, oh yes) and Seductive Wine Names.
If you're the designated wine expert among your friends, you can create a wine list for each wine release and e-mail it to them. It takes less than 5 minutes to click-pick your favourites.
In the next issue of this newsletter, I'll share with you the winner of the Best Wine List of the Week with big points given for humour and sarcasm. So put your tongue firmly in your cheek and have fun with it!
PS Want tips on finding bargain wines? Lots in the latest issue of Smart Money Magazine. |
