Mymi Thesingingsommelier rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

In 1996, Kim Crawford and his wife Erica fell in love with the idea of starting a winery. In the beginning, they ran the company from a spare room of their home in Central Auckland, New Zealand and without owning grapevines or tanks, Kim and Erica produced their first 4,000 cases, thereby established Kim Crawford Wines. Only two years after launch, Kim Crawford Wines began exporting to the United States. Within four years, the company moved into a state-of-the-art winery in Marlborough and began looking at vineyards to purchase and cultivate. Just six years after these humble beginnings, Kim Crawford Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc made the 2003 Wine Spectator's Top 100 List to roaring acclaim!
One of the first wineries in New Zealand to utilize the screw cap and producing fruit-driven Chardonnays at the time of the oaky Chardonnay craze, it is safe to say that Kim Crawford is a pioneer who isn’t afraid to go against the grain… And thank goodness he did!
This 2009 “FIZZ” Méthode Traditionelle is a blend of 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay, all hand harvested from the elegant 2009 vintage… It is seductively spectacular!
It is named after Felicity Nelson, a legendary personality who hosts all of their New Zealand vineyard and winery visitors. She is so bubbly and vivacious that she goes by the nickname “Fizz.”!
Its color is a pale straw yellow with the daintiest bubbles!
On the nose, there is a little cream, soft pear and apples aromas.
On the palate, it is delightful and vibrant with zesty citrus notes, lovely yeast and a creamy mouthfeel…
If Champagne isn’t in your budget, this is a great compromise!

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
