The Riesling wine grapes for Flat Rock Cellars Riesling were sourced from the Twenty Mile Bench on the Niagara Escarpment. Green apple and white pear. Love it. Building an inuksuk is now a ritual at the end of harvest for this winery: lifting the heavy stones requires a team effort. The winery does whole cluster pressing to extract pure flavour, and only of the first 600 litres per tonne of fruit. Ed allows the juice to settle during a long, slow fermentation. The vintage is a blend of two distinct blocks of 21B clone vines now in their teens as the winery describes them. Finishes with fresh pink grapefruit notes. The wine grapes for Flat Rock Cellars Riesling were sourced from the Twenty Mile Bench on the Niagara Escarpment. This a well-balanced fruit to racy acidity Riesling that could easily hold in cellar for five years or more. Lovely florals, off-dry with peachy, fresh apple, pronounced mineral and lime citrus flavours on this zesty white from a well-known producer. Pair with schnitzels, medium-bodied cheeses, roast turkey and fun.

Riesling food pairings: herb rubbed chicken, seafood, shellfish.

Reviews and Ratings

Greg Hughes rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

What remarkably reasonable price for such a tasty Riesling. VQA Twenty Mile Bench, this Riesling comes out pure, juicy, and clean.
Pale straw yellow, with citrus and stone fruit aromatics. It may even have early signs of honeyed note. Light florality and a hint of minerality to come.
Medium bodied, with lemon juice, nectarine, and peach.
There is a touch of residual sweetness on it, but not that much, so just enjoy.
Pair this with a lobster roll and wedge fries. I see this wine and I think bistro-y comfort food.
Diana Becevello WSET 2, WSET 3 in p rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

If wine could be thirst-quenching, this is it. Flavours of apple, peach, and zesty lime with a slight minerality.

This wine would pair perfectly with any spicy dish and great with sushi. It is also fabulous on its own!
Excellent value Riesling under $16 from Flat Rock Vineyards. Love the green apple, juicy pear and fresh pink grapefruit and lime zest flavours on this happy white. A juicy, well-balanced and delicious Riesling from the Bench. Chill and enjoy it on its own or with mildly spice Asian food or mild curries. - Community Wine Reviews
