Reviews and Ratings

Jane Staples - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

A delicious blend of Tempranillo and Cab Sauv with a very fragrant nose of ripe strawberries, cherries, vanilla, baking spices and leather. The rich palate continues with added cedar/oak notes, slight mint and licorice. Dry and satiny; a very flavourful wine.

Malcolm Lamont - WSET Adv, CSW rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Typically this region shows just a little more oomph that its easterly neighbour Rioja. Perhaps provided by the common blending partners Cabernet Sauvignon, and other Bordeaux grapes.

This expression s excellent, showing medium ruby colour, and tartrate crystal 'wine diamonds'
A yummy brioche, caramel, vanillay, clove and baking spice nose. Wow! Sweet spice, cedar and raspberry replays on the palate. Medium (+) soft tannins.

Carolyn Hetke rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Plum coloured with an aged rim this pleasant medium bodied red is like having a cigar after dinner! Light tobacco and leather on the nose. Tannins are sill a bit firm.
Stephen Andrews reviewed this wine as follows:

Tasted April 16th 2017, light pink on the rim and dark red to the core. Good colour. Aroma dark fruit, perfume, blackberry, blackcherry. On the palate sour cherry suggesting good acid. Light mouth feel and finishes tart. Wine was tasted second day after opening. An easy drinking Tempranillo wine supported by Cabernet Sauvignon. We had this wine with beef an turkey burgers green salad.
Produced by Bodegas Balbás in the Ribera del Duero, the vines are planted in central north region of Spain. Lots of oak and vanilla spice box, this is big wine with ripe, black cherry fruit aromas. Tannins are structured and this wine has backbone. - Community Wine Review.
