Jon Steeves rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

The 2006 vintage of Brunello Di Montalcino DOCG is produced from 100% Sangiovese Grosso grapes (aka Brunello) from hills at an altitude of 200-460 meters above sea level with vast diurnal temperature differentiation. The grapes were hand-harvested in bunches at multiple times to ensure perfection in maturation of each cluster. After a delicate fermentation process with punching down of grapes and on-skin maceration, the wine was aged in oak casks for 36 months, then rested in stainless steel tanks for 6 months and bottle aged for an additional 12 months before release. Tasted at 14.5% ABV, ruby red in colour. This wine is rich, intense, complex with prominent typical notes of ripe plum, cherry, cassis, and violet and a hint of sweet tobacco leaf. This label was first produced by Ruffino in 1979. I enjoyed this wine with a basic pasta with pan fried wild mushrooms, prosciutto and parmesan dish and highly recommend trying it with Vegan grilled Portabello mushrooms, or braised meats such as lamb, beef, duck or roasted Turkey. Available by consignment.

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
