Who said white wine doesn't age as well as reds? I do, I admit and it is true for most white wine. But the Alsacian wine - like great white Burgundy and vintage Champagne - age with beauty. I bought this wine in the Vintages Classics of the LCBO published in May with the idea to see the potential of old Gewurztraminer before I stock up in new vintages and burry them in the cellar. The result is impressive. We have a very refine wine still full and long but that has lost the really rosy nose that is so specific to that grape. You can still smell the flowers, but it doesn't take all the aromatic space. And for those who don't like the residual sugar in those wines, this one is dry, although still fruity. I don't often talk about the robe since I usually find it only useful in blindtasting to guess the age and grape, but the bright yellow robe of this wine makes it really pretty in the glass. After all, eyesight is one of the senses we use in wine tasting so... If you are curious or, like me, a big fan of alsacian wines, you can still buy it but there is only one case left in the whole LCBO network. It is 50 $ but you pay for the time it was in someone elses' cellar so you can drink it at its peak (it is my opinion that this wine is there now). The 2007 vintage is available in the SAQ network, but quantities are very limited too.

The SAQ receives this product once a year just before the summer. There are still a few available (note that you can always go to a nearby SAQ and ask them to get bottles for you from another store)of the 2010 vintage. This is an excellent excellent wine from a great appellation and a great biodynamic winery. The Azienda Agricola COS was founded by three friends in 1980: Giambattista (Titta) Cilia, Giusto Occhipinti and Cirino (Rino) Strano, get them together and you got the COS acronym. The . This Cerasuolo di Vittoria is fermentented in concrete tanks and then aged in amphoras. Very fresh, but lets to last 4-5 years. A delight, really. Perfect with tomato base recipes or a mushroom risotto.

The nose is intense and complex with red berries and leather aromas. A vibrant, deep and refined wine. Reminded me of great pinot noir from Clos Jordanne. A high quality wine with velvety tannins made for food like duck breast on the BBQ or even to enjoy on it's own. Stock it.

This is what Gamay has best to offer and what the 10 crus of the Beaujolais also have best to offer. This biodynamic producers makes delicious and lush wines year after year. I had the 2010 and the 2011 and they are complex, but aerial and fun at the same time. Not the typical Beaujolais. You can drink now or wait 2-3 years. The father died recently, but the son is as skilled. A perfect wine for the fall and X-Mas time. Impossible (I declare that it is!) not to like this wine. The 2012 is available at the SAQ now. You can buy 750 ml or the magnum (my choice).

My friend and wine "connaisseur" David Santerre from La Bande des vins brought this pearl to my house a few weeks ago. This is a very elegant and deep Pinot noir made by an excellent winemaker. Let's remember that 2006 was not a great year in Burgundy, but you couldn't tell in the glass. Burguet made a classy wine with aromas of black berries and dried leaves. Long in the mouth and very etheral. The 2009 is available at the SAQ. A great wine. Pricy like all Gevrey, but worth it.
