Dan Trcka scored this wine: 100/100

I am in love with the 2007 Casa Lapostolle Cabernet Sauvignon wine. It is medium to full bodied, fruity and extremely pleasantly fragrant with aromas of cherry, red currant, raspberry, leather and Earth. It is still quite tannic (decant for more than 1 hour) and has a medium finish. The fruit and tannin balance ensures that this wine will evolve gracefully for another 5 years at least. My impression: BEAUTIFUL. I am glad I was able to get my hands on few cases. Tasted Jan/10.

The Taylor Fladgate 40 Year Old Tawny Port has a captivating bouquet of dried prune, figs, caramel, clove, cinnamon and subdued walnuts. It is a full bodied, aged port; with good acidity and a long finish. Drink as a desert or with aged, dry or smoked cheeses; drink now – 2018+. My impression: BEAUTIFUL to DIVINE, 95+ pts – recommended for its quality. Tasted in September 2013 at iYellow's Taylor Fladgate Port Party http://grapeselections.com/port-and-werewolves/ See my wine recommendations readily available at the LCBO here: http://grapeselections.com/grapeselections

The 2007 Ornellaia - a high end wine, which LCBO expected to vanish within days, but which has been sitting on the shelves since October 2nd without finding a home. You can purchase it for 'mere' $180 (monthly wage in Vietnam, where I recently visited) or since it is now available for sampling at the Queens Quay LCBO, you can try it for yourself, which is what I did. It is medium bodied with intense aromas of integrated red and black currants, emerging leather, subtle green pepper and mellow oak. Tannins are refined (decant for at least 30 minutes, but don't stop there) and the finish is long, smooth and expressing mild minerality. It will definitely benefit from aging for at least couple of years (still a bit closed), but it can be drunk now - drinking range 2012 to beyond 2020. My impression: BEAUTIFUL, 94 pts - tasted Nov/10. I would recommend to try this wine, but I don't think it is worth the price, perhaps $50-70.

This full bodied, integrated wine has intense bouquet of black currant, oak, vanilla, coconut and pencil lead. The tannins are refined to tannic (decant for 30 min) and the finish was long, smooth and silky. This wine can easily age gracefully for more than 10 years, yet is a definite treat now. Even though the alcohol is 15.8% (watch out, it gets you), somehow the wine is capable of pulling it off and not seeming alcoholic. My impression: DIVINE, 94 pts - would highly recommend buying if there were any left. Tasted June/10.

I have tasted this wine once before and decided to stock up on it. This beautifully aromatic wine is dominated by cherry followed by black currant, bilberry, oak + vanilla and almond tastes. It is smooth, slightly earthy and chalky. The alcohol is high 15.2%, but not at all intrusive, together with refined tannins this wine should age gracefully for 10 years at least. Body of this wine is medium, finish is long. My impression: BEAUTIFUL TO DIVINE. This wine could cost up to $40 and still be worth it. I am glad this wine is part of my cellar. Tasted Feb/10 and Jan/10.
