A full-bodied, black-fruited wine with a smoky finish. A good grip on the palate so decant 1-2 hours. Great price.

Merlot food pairings: rack of lamb, grilled steak with mushroom sauce, veal in a red wine reduction sauce, Beef Wellington or medium aged cheddar.

Reviews and Ratings

Mark Britton rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

This is a very nice wine a nice buy at $13.95. Nice ripe cherry on the nose, partnered with some smoke and earthiness even typically associated with a more aged wine. There is immediate cherry on the palate, then a nice lingering, smokey finish that is beautiful.
Dan Trcka Wine Blogger rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

The 2011 Jackson-Triggs Reserve Series Merlot, is a medium bodied, fruity wine with appealing strawberry and raspberry aromas. It has refined tannins and a medium finish. This food friendly wine should be kept for no more than 2-3 years. My impression: NICE, 87-88 pts. Tasted Oct/12.
Courtney Flood rated this wine as 87/100 with the following review:

Dark cherry and plum, vanilla, and some herbal notes and peppercorn. Mediumm tannin. Pair with a BBQ ribs, rosemary-balsamic chicken.
Nina rated this wine as 86/100 with the following review:

Very pleasant Merlot. Lots of red fruit, plum, cherry. Some herbs flavor. Soft on the palate, easy to drink.
Jason Solanki rated this wine as 86/100 with the following review:

2011 vintage. Screw top. Light earthy, currant and red fruit and some smoke aromas from the glass. Medium-bodied and dry with red fruit, raspberry on the palate leads to peppery, medium-length finish with hints of dark chocolate. Tasted Oct/2012.
Corinna Horton rated this wine as 83/100 with the following review:

Please do yourself favor and decant this wine for an hour or so, only then will it rest enough for you to appreciate it's black fruit flavour without a heavy assault on your palate. A little time releases a smooth, smokey finish and a touch of pepper. Well priced, it's easily affordable.
Sara Connelly reviewed this wine as follows:

Peppery spice with some woodsy notes and juicy cherry and plum. Light to medium tannins. Fabulous for the price.
Susan Desjardins reviewed this wine as follows:

Enjoy the subtle aromas of red fruits, vanilla, herbs and spice of this bright cherry-red wine. Dry, medium bodied and tasty, the crisp acidity matches juicy red berry and plum, notes of vanilla and smoky spice replaying. Finishing dry yet fruity, it`s a match for pork ribs or Kootenay Alpine Cheese Company`s Alpindon.
The 2010 Reserve Merlot is a delicious medium bodied red wine, with notes of
oak, vanilla, cherry and plum both on the nose and the palate. The wine
underwent complete malolactic fermentation and was aged in new, one & two
year old French & American oak barriques for 4 months.
