From the Gigondas, Rhône wine region, Gabriel Meffre Sainte-Catherine 2017 is a full-bodied red wine blend of Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Grenache and Cinsault. Juicy with red berry, plum, dried herbs, and toasty oak spice flavours on the palate. Pour with a roast leg of lamb. The Gigondas district was awarded Rhône Cru status in 1971, a very coveted designation.

Food pairings: roast leg of lamb, roast crown pork and corn niblets, roast Cornish hens and wild rice.

Reviews and Ratings

Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

A blend primarily comprised of Grenache and Syrah, this wine has lovely aromas of strawberry and cherry, along with violets, dried herbs and peppery spice. Full bodied, smooth, with some medium tannins, and bright acidity on the palate. Fruit and berry flavours are ripe and rounded, and the finish is spicy. Enjoy with lamb or duck.
