This full-bodied Australian red wine is a blend of mostly Cabernet Sauvignon, with Shiraz and Merlot grapes. This big, black fruited Australian red wine is produced by the Ashmead Family. It offers a savoury, meaty note and mouth-watering acidity. Layered and delicious. Elderton winery is certified Carbon Neutral. My thanks to Lorraine for being the inspiration for this wine. Pair with roast beef.

Cabernet Sauvignon Shiraz Merlot food pairings: meatloaf, pork tenderloin, roast chicken.

Reviews and Ratings

Matt Steeves - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

A blend of 56% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Shirza, 4% Merlot, all from the Barossa Valley. Gorgeous warm baking spices, black fruit, plum, cherry and pepper on the nose. Full bodied, with a velvety smooth texture, it's dry with black berry, plum, and spice on the finish. An impressive Barossa blend that would be terrific this autumn and over the next 5+ years with hearty dishes. Tasted October 2016. 93 points. Matt Steeves - www.quercusvino.ca
Heather Wall - CS; WSET Advanced rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

It's been said that every artist needs a muse. In this case the inspiration for this wine comes from one of the original Elderton founders Lorraine Ashmead. Full-bodied with a deep concentration of red and black fruit; light oak influences;mocha; sweet baking spices;warming alcohol. Polished and rich. Perfect winter wine. Bring on aprés ski!

Monique Sosa - Accredited Sommelier rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Incredible! A bold and lush Aussie blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz and Merlot. This full-bodied red wine shows moderate aromas with big flavours! High notes include layers upon layers of ripe red berry, plum, licorice, cedar, tobaccos leaf and spice. The palate shows ripe satiny-smooth tannins, a lush balanced acidity and a long spice finish. A worthy buy for your harvest table roasts. Tasted Oct 2016. @sommsosa | bespoketastings.ca

A beautiful Barossa Valley blend of Cab Sauv, Shiraz, and a drop of Merlot, highlighting the best features of each varietal, showing ripe red fruit, vanilla aromatics and a palate with lots of ripe fruit, mint and subtle spice nicely interwoven. Smooth texture, elegant finish.
