Produced by CVNE, Asúa Reserva 2016 is a 100% Tempranillo from the Rioja Alta wine region. Dry, full-bodied and rich with dark plum fruit, savoury herbs, dark spices, vibrant with a long, smoky finish and grippy tannins that leave you contemplating about visiting the Rioja. Grapes are grown 600 metres above sea level, where the winds sweep in from the cold Atlantic, but the south-facing vines and grapes enjoy the protection of the Sierra de Cantabria mountain range. The whole grapes are cold macerated and semi-crushed within 24 hours upon their arrival to the winery keeping the grape juice fresh. After fermentation and malolactic conversion which takes place in new French oak barrels, the wine is then transferred to new French oak barrels for ageing. Drink or hold, this wine is a great cellaring candidate for 10-plus years.

Food pairings: pork roast, sausage cassoulet, veal ribs in a rich red wine sauce.
